Kristen Wiig Dishes on Working with Idol Carol Burnett in ‘Palm Royale’, Her Beloved SNL Characters, and Why ‘Bridesmaids’ Won’t Have a Sequel – The Actor’s Side

In an exclusive interview with The Actor’s Side, Kristen Wiig shares insights into her comedic journey, including her recent induction into the SNL five-timer host club, her role in the Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale” alongside Carol Burnett, and why there won’t be a sequel to the blockbuster hit “Bridesmaids.”

Wiig delves into her latest project, “Palm Royale,” a much-anticipated Apple TV+ series set in the late 60s, where she stars as a woman striving to join Palm Beach’s elite society. One of the highlights for Wiig was sharing the screen with comedy legend Carol Burnett, even in scenes where Burnett had to play comatose.

Discussing her iconic SNL characters, including The Target Lady, Gilly, and Aunt Linda the film critic, Wiig reminisces about their creation and her time on the show from 2005 to 2012. Despite the immense success of “Bridesmaids,” which earned her an Oscar nomination for Original Screenplay, Wiig reveals why she’s adamant that there won’t be a sequel.

Additionally, Wiig shares insights into her recent projects, including her role as Cheetah in “Wonder Woman,” the sequel to “Despicable Me,” and the creation of the cult favorite “Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar.”
