Inter Miami Forges Ahead Without Alba; Messi Remains Key Player Amid Upcoming Challenges

Gerardo “Tata” Martino, the head coach of Inter Miami, has announced that while defender Jordi Alba is sidelined for two matches due to a muscle injury, superstar Lionel Messi will continue to feature prominently in the team’s lineup as they navigate a busy schedule leading up to the Copa América.

At a recent press briefing, Martino detailed Alba’s condition and the team’s strategy moving forward. “Jordi will be out for the next couple of games, but we’ll assess his recovery on a match-by-match basis,” he explained. Despite the setback, there is no special adjustment in strategy for Messi, who is in top form. “Lionel is feeling strong and working well. Our schedule includes mainly weekend matches and just one midweek game against Orlando City, so we’ll keep our approach consistent for now,” Martino added.

Inter Miami is currently leading the Eastern Conference with 15 points from nine games, despite a challenging start to the season marked by multiple injuries. Martino emphasized the team’s resilience and mentioned that apart from Alba and Federico Redondo, the squad should be at full strength until the Copa América and Olympics. However, he voiced concerns over the MLS salary cap, which complicates long-term team stability. “By December, we’ll be in talks about player departures and arrivals due to the league’s financial regulations,” he noted.

The Copa América, set to take place from June 20 to July 14 across various venues in the United States, looms as a critical period for Inter Miami, potentially affecting player availability and team dynamics.
