The Supreme Court issued a brief written decision disqualifying Faisal Vawda. Chief Judge Umar Atta Bandyal wrote a 4-page decision.
As reported by ARY News, the Supreme Court issued a brief written ruling on the disqualification of Faisal Vawda.
The verdict stated that Faisal Vawda pleaded guilty to making false statements. In 2018, he was not elected as an MP. Section 631C applies to Faisal Vawda upon pleading guilty.
According to the decision of the Supreme Court, Faisal Wawda will be considered not a candidate for the current term of the Sejm, after which he will be able to run in the next elections.
The Supreme Court’s written order stated that Faisal Vawda should immediately forward his resignation from his Senate seat to the Speaker of the Senate.

The judgment also stated that the Electoral Commission does not have the power to disqualify a candidate before an election. The decision of the Islamabad High Court cannot be upheld in law. Therefore, the lifetime disqualification decision issued by the Electoral Commission and the Supreme Court is declared null and void.
