Kolkata: A man was assaulted with a brick on his head at a tea shop in Chetla area on Ekadashi night. The man died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Wednesday evening. After scanning the CCTV footage, the police arrested one person in the incident. The name of the deceased is Biswajit Chowdhury. According to information, on Thursday Biswajit left home to have tea. Allegedly, while sitting in a tea shop, someone hit him on the head with a brick. After that, he was severely beaten. With the help of local people and police, the injured person was taken to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. During the investigation, the police identified one of the accused through CCTV footage and arrested him. A case of attempted murder has been registered against the accused. After Biswajit’s death, the police filed a murder case as the plaintiff. Preliminary investigation revealed that Biswajit was killed due to financial transactions.
