MUMBAI: Winners of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) lottery have to face many problems till they get actual possession of the house. They will now get rid of it and the government has recently approved the proposal in this regard. Winners can now get possession of the house in just 15 days. As per the new proposal, the next lot of MHADA houses will be drawn. For this reason, the winners will not be associated with the MHADA office in any form. So they have to visit the registrar’s office only once to register the house.
The proposal was conceived by Mumbai Housing Board Chief Officer Yogesh Mse. The government approved it last week. Applications will be accepted online only after publication of advertisement for MHADA houses. Earlier, 27 different types of documents had to be submitted along with the application. That number will now be increased to seven and seven days will be given to register applications. Eligibility and disqualification will be determined within seconds. On the ninth day, the lottery will be conducted and only eligible applicants will be included in the lottery. So after the draw there will be no more hanging swords of qualification and disqualification.
A message will be sent to the mobile of the successful applicant. After that a provisional delivery letter will be sent to his mail immediately. Preferably, arrangements will be made for ‘e-registration’ at the same time after full payment. After paying the stamp duty, the successful candidate will only have to attend the Deputy Registrar’s office for registration, said the Emcee. The new concept will also eliminate the waiting list.
