Nagpur. The accused killed a 75-year-old man in a dispute over dal and rice while eating. The name of the deceased is Aurobindo Barsade. However, the Wadi police have arrested the accused Wardha resident Debrao alias Vasudev Rameshrao Barskar (38) while solving the matter. The accused was a laborer and lived on the footpath in Wadi Chattar for the past two years.
According to information, Devabrata and Aurobindo knew each other for about 2 months. 3 days ago Aurobindo lent Devrao Rs 40 for liquor while Devrao bought pulses and rice with his Rs 50. After drinking, when the two were eating, an argument broke out between them. Devrao said to Arvind, you ate more and gave me less lentil-rice. Then he got angry and hit Arvind on the head with a stick and stunned him. Arvind died of serious injuries. Devarao fled from there in panic. After some time, people saw Arvind’s body and informed the police.
More than 26 CCTV footages have been scanned
On reaching the spot, the police initially realized that the incident was a murder. Recordings of more than 26 CCTV cameras installed across the premises have been scanned to trace the killer. In one recording, Devrao appeared as a suspect some distance from the scene. Based on suspicion, the police started searching him. Debrao was finally arrested from the Sitavardi complex on Friday. At first he denies killing Arvind, but he confesses to the crime following police procedures. The police have registered a case of murder on the complaint of Arvind’s son.
The old man did not live with his family
Arvind’s son told the police that for the past two years he had been separated from his family and lived with street beggars. He would do it if he got any work, otherwise he would lie on the street. The family took him home a few times, but he lived on the sidewalk for days. He had returned from home on the day of the murder.
