India’s Suryakumar Yadav has overtaken Pakistan captain Babar Azam in the latest ICC rankings. He has risen to the third position in the list of international batsmen in T20 cricket. Suryakumar scored 46 runs in the first T20 match. Through this innings, he also filled the gap of Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the batting order. Suryakumar is now only 45 rating points behind Rizwan. Rizwan scored a half-century during Pakistan’s defeat against England in Karachi on Tuesday and maintained his lead in the batting charts with a career-best 825 runs.
Aidan Markram of South Africa is second (792 points) and Suryakumar (780 points) is third in this ranking. After not performing as expected in the Asia Cup and scoring just 31 runs in the first match of the series against England, Babar has dropped to fourth place. England’s David Malan (725 points) is fifth and Australia captain Aaron Finch (715 points) is sixth. Apart from Suryakumar, star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya jumped 22 places to the 65th position. He scored an unbeaten 71 runs in the first T20 match against Australia.
India’s left-arm spinner Akshar Patel jumped 24 places to 33rd in the T20I bowlers’ rankings with three wickets in the first match against Australia on Tuesday. Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood topped the list of bowlers after taking important wickets of Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul in the first match. South Africa’s Tabrez Shamsi is second in the list of bowlers and leg-spinner Adil Rashid, who took two wickets against Pakistan, is third. Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has climbed four places to 21st in the T20 international bowlers list. His colleague Mohammad Nawaz also improved by three places to the 31st position.
