A MAN who sold a Rolex to pay for private medical care was robbed at knifepoint in his own home, police say.

An investigation has been launched after the man had his watch stolen in Park Gate.

Police say he had advertised the watch on Facebook Marketplace and planned to use the sales proceeds to pay for private medical care.

On September 6, he received a call from a woman who said she was interested in buying the watch.

At around 8pm that evening, a woman and a man showed up at the victim’s home address and initially pretended to go ahead with the transaction.

The man then threatened the victim with a knife and the pair fled the scene with the watch.

The watch is described as a silver Rolex Oyster Perpetual DATEJUST, with a white gold fluted bezel and a commemorative bracelet.

Police are now appealing to the public for information.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “Inquiries are currently ongoing but we are asking anyone who has been offered the watch pictured here to contact police by calling 101, quoting 44220364146.

“You can also send us information online here: www.hampshire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111, or via their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.

“We also encourage people to take the time to read the following advice about buying and selling online and to be vigilant.

“When you’re either selling or buying online and through Facebook Marketplace, you never really know who you’re dealing with, as criminals can hide behind a social media profile.”
