Jaipur. In Rajasthan’s Nagaur city, a gangster Sandeep Shetty was shot dead by unidentified miscreants in broad daylight outside a local court on Monday. A senior police officer said that four people, including three associates of the gangster and a lawyer, were injured in the firing. Two seriously injured have been referred to Jodhpur.

On the instructions of Director General of Police ML Lather, Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Terrorism Squad and Special Operations Group) Ashok Rathod left for the spot from Jaipur. The police cordoned off the area. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused based on their presence.

Acting Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) VK Singh said that murder accused Sanjeev Shetty, who was returning from his appearance in a Nagaur court around 1.30 pm on Monday, was attacked by unidentified miscreants on the main road. Sandeep died in the shooting. He said three associates of Sandeep along with a lawyer were reportedly shot in the attack. After the attack, the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital. Two associates of Sandeep have been referred to Jodhpur in critical condition.

Singh said, efforts have been started to nab the miscreants on the basis of appearance. He said, adding the links of those related to the incident, all kinds of activities have been started to identify and hand over the accused. At the same time, BJP has targeted the state government regarding the law and order situation in the state in view of this incident. BJP state president Satish Punia said the state has become the first choice of criminals.

Punia tweeted, “Gang war in Nagaur, that too is absolutely fearless, (Chief Minister Ashok) Gehlot ji Whose security is your government working for? The state has become the first choice of criminals and the day is not far when Rajasthan will be synonymous with crime. Now change is the solution.”

Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal also tweeted about this, “In such a situation police and administration should be assigned responsibility in this whole matter! Rising crime is a matter of concern in the state including Nagaur and the law and order situation in the state is on ventilator. Such incidents are proof of existence of Jungle Raj in Rajasthan.”

Nagaur Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Meena said that Sandeep is a criminal of criminal nature and has 25 cases registered against him, he came to the court today to appear in the murder case along with his accomplices. He said the miscreants fired about 9-10 rounds, which killed Sandeep on the spot. The body has been kept at Nagar Government Hospital morgue for post-mortem. (organization)
