Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the restoration of communication systems damaged by rains and floods and completion of road renovation work by Friday.
An emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on restoration of electricity, roads and communication systems across the country. After returning from a visit to the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the damage and ongoing work on infrastructure was discussed. FWO and other institutions were held in recovery. Chaired meetings to review progress.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister ordered the restoration of the Kalam-Swat link road within the next week and the power department has to submit a detailed report of its work to restore the power system from August 25.
He said that in the report the progress of the work and the detailed reasons if the work is stopped should be ensured restoration of all electricity in Balochistan and repair of transmission lines within next 48 hours.
He said that the power department has given responsibility to their joint secretary and deputy secretaries, no officer of the power department will sit in the office until the power is restored and repaired, there will be no disruption in Gwadar transmission. Line is not acceptable under any circumstances.
The Prime Minister directed that the construction materials required for the transmission line should be manufactured locally, that public money should not be spent on imports that could be made in Pakistan, that the chief executives of the DISCOs should stay in their cities and an awareness campaign should be carried out. Conducted with their names and numbers for public convenience and complaints.
He directed Federal Minister Power Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan to reach Khyber Pakhtunkhwa immediately to oversee the restoration work of the flooded transmission network and submit a report addressing all the problems.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Maryam Aurangzeb, Khurram Dastgir Khan, DG FWO, Chairman NHA and officials of concerned ministries.
In the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the restoration of power transmission lines.
