In Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad city and Baramati, the implementation of increased rickshaw fare will begin from September 1. However, the increased fare cannot be charged without checking the meter of the rickshaw as per the revised fare. The Pune Regional Transport Office has clarified that the fare shown on the meter will be applicable to the passenger. RTO has informed that arrangements have been made at five places in the city to check RTO rickshaw meters in Pune.
In view of the increase in CNG price and the recommendations of the Khatua Committee, the final increase in the rickshaw fare was announced in the Regional Transport Authority meeting on August 27. Currently the fare of rickshaw for the first stage of one and a half kilometers is Tk 21. 14 per kilometer is charged thereafter. As per the new fare hike, Rs 25 will be charged for the first one and a half km and Rs 17 per km thereafter. That is, the fare has been increased by 50 taka for the first one and a half kilometers. This price increase will be effective from September 1.
Rickshaw drivers will have to verify the meter to collect the increased fare. Apart from this, no additional rent can be charged. The deadline for meter verification has been fixed till September 31. Arrangements have been made for meter inspection at five locations in the city. In front of Alankar Police Station in Karvenagar, Alandi Road Test Ground in Phulenagar, Eagleburg Company Lane No. 3 in Ramtekdi Industrial Estate, Dive Test Ground, in front of Kharadi Police Outpost near Aeon IT Park etc.
The meter should be verified within the period of –
