ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court has issued notice on petition against summoning of DG NAB Lahore Shahzad Salim to Public Accounts Committee for allegedly harassing Secretaries of National Assembly Secretariat and Public Accounts Committee and also PAC. A woman has been barred from disciplinary action. The court said, does the Public Accounts Committee have jurisdiction to call on matters other than funds? Court ordered PAC against Shahzad Selim. Acting Chief Justice Amir Farooq commented that he is not suspending the proceedings of PAC. Acting Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition, after which NAB Special Prosecutor Jahanzeb Barwana said that Article 69 of the Constitution does not have absolute immunity of Parliament, now it is a parliamentary exception. Here is also the decision of the Supreme Court. The issue is the irregularity of the Public Accounts Committee. The court said that the Public Accounts Committee also comes within the Parliament, in view of which the NAB prosecutor said, only the action of the Parliament has immunity. Jahanzeb Barwana said that Taiba Gul had complained against former chairman NAB, DG NAB Lahore and others in the Public Accounts Committee, based on which they had issued summons to the investigators of the high profile case, including former chairman NAB. He further said. The committee has exceeded its authority, the court rejected Deputy Attorney General Arshad Kayani’s plea not to issue notice to the PAC, saying that notice can be given to the Chairman Senate, so why not the Chairman PAC? Chairman Senate himself applied and fought the case. On the other hand Taiba Gul also applied to be a party to the case, in view of which the court issued a notice and called for arguments. The court asked Taiba Gul to tell how he? has been damaged. You are a complainant to the PAC, so how do you team up here? Also help on what is the law to be a party in another case?
