Daytime Emmy Awards 2024: Comprehensive List of Nominees Unveiled

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has begun unveiling the nominations for the 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards. A selection of categories was announced last night, with more nominees set to be revealed this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. PT and later at 8:30 p.m. PT. The final list will be disclosed tomorrow morning.

The first batch of nominations includes key categories such as Lead Actor and Actress in a Daytime Drama Series, alongside Daytime Talk Series Host. The 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards promises an exciting lineup of television talent and will be broadcast live from CBS on Friday, June 7, at 8 p.m. ET, accommodating viewers with a tape delay on the West Coast.

In a significant shift from previous years, the Daytime Emmys have removed the category dedicated to younger performers. Young talents are encouraged to compete in the more comprehensive lead, supporting, or guest actor categories, reflecting a more inclusive approach to award criteria.

This year’s nominees for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series are a mix of familiar faces and seasoned actors. Nominees include Eric Braeden as Victor Newman in “The Young and the Restless”, Scott Clifton as Liam Spencer in “The Bold and the Beautiful”, Thorsten Kaye as Ridge Forrester, also from “The Bold and the Beautiful”, Eric Martsolf as Brady Black in “Days of Our Lives”, and John McCook as Eric Forrester, adding to the star-studded list representing top daytime dramas.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles, marking the continuation of a two-year telecast agreement with CBS, a network synonymous with the Daytime Emmys, having hosted the event more times than any other broadcaster.

Adjustments in the categories this year include the consolidation of awards for outstanding writing in daytime non-fiction series and specials into a single category for outstanding writing in a daytime non-fiction program. Moreover, the host categories have been refined to distinguish between daily and non-daily daytime personalities, aiming to better recognize the diverse range of talent across various formats.

The 2023 Daytime Emmys saw “General Hospital” leading the pack with seven wins, closely followed by “The Kelly Clarkson Show” with six awards, highlighting the competitive nature of these prestigious accolades.

The Daytime Emmys continue to be produced by Associated Television International, with NATAS’s Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong, alongside David McKenzie from ATI, serving as the executive producers, ensuring the event’s longstanding tradition of excellence and entertainment.
