Biden attributes lackluster debate performance to international travel, admits he was close to dozing off on stage

Biden blames international travel for poor debate performance, says he nearly ‘fell asleep on stage’

President Joe Biden attributed his recent poor debate performance to his extensive foreign travel in June during a campaign fundraiser in McLean, Virginia. According to reporters present at the event, Biden confessed, “I decided to travel around the world a couple of times,” referencing his trips abroad, including his visit to France for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Biden acknowledged that he had not listened to his staff and admitted that he “nearly fell asleep on stage” upon his return. Despite apologizing for his debate performance, he expressed the critical importance of winning the election.

While Biden’s debate performance raised concerns about his age and mental acuity, the president has been adamant about continuing his campaign for the 2024 election. Senior campaign advisers defended Biden’s health during a call with more than 500 regional and national finance chairs, reassuring them that he was fit to carry on with the race.

Since the debate, the DNC and Biden campaign have seen a significant increase in fundraising, with a total of $33 million raised. Despite the setbacks, Biden remains determined to fight harder and secure victory in the upcoming election.
